More Evidence of the Power of VISUAL!

In a recently written blogpost, social media guru Jeff Bullas wrote of the importance of visual content to Facebook (and other online venues) success. The article can be found at http://www.jeffbullas.com/2012/08/27/the-facts-and-figures-about-the-power-of-visual-content-infographic/ . Very good stuff. This is and isn't news.

It is news because of the statistical evidence found pertaining to the power of visuals in garnering attention on Facebook. Bullas says, "Videos are Shared 1,200 percent more than links and and text posts combined. Photos are liked 200% more than text updates." With Facebook being the ultimate marketing of our lives, knowing what truly captures an audience's attention is very valuable.

It's not news considering the long standing movement in the areas of education and sales to refine the dreaded PowerPoint presentation (or dump it all together). I was first exposed to Garr Reynold's classic book Presentation Zen, which dramatically changed forever my preparation, creation and delivery of presentations. That was followed by Nancy Duarte's book, Slide:ology, wich refined my skills even more.

Finally, everything was brought into proper perspective in John Medina's offering, Brain Rules: 12 Principles for Surviving and Thriving at Work, Home and School. In fact, Rule number 10 is "Vision Trumps all other senses." It is here that Medina makes the case that "we do not see with our eyes. We see with our brains."

So it great to see this new information and have it support the visual cause. For more information on the power of visuals, go to:
